Abstract

The second edition of 'Babies and Young children' was written with the intention of examining the principles, practice and context of child-care worker's role in providing care and education of children from birth to 8 years. It describes how the child-care worker can provide a conducive environment for children. It explores on equality of opportunities in child-care setting, employment in child-care and explains why it is important to work with parents. It also looks at how children learn and why it is important to play, as well as philosophy and approaches to early years of education. The book further explains curriculum components of early education. It also explains child protection, care for babies and lastly child health promotion and sickness that may affect children.
