Abstract

This book is a resource for teachers, lecturers, and policy makers facing challenges of educational transformation in southern Africa today. Its overall aim is to contextualize and address social issues and special need within the wider quest for quality education for all. To meet these challenges, the book shows how educators can apply current theoretical perspectives as well as practical guidelines from local case-studies, examples and research. How they can cultivate a culture of learning for all students, whatever their background or circumstances. Also how they can promote all aspects of healthy, holistic development, and finally how they can engender commitment self respect and professionalism in teaching.
